How can I reduce my calves?

I have HUGE calves. I measured them and they're about 50 inches!

They're very solid and you can't really pinch the skin, so it's purely all muscle. I guess they've gotten bigger because I'm heavier now and they carry more weight. Also, I do a lot of walking and up and down the stairs (ah subways in NY). A plastic surgeon asked me what type of sports I played because of their size.

I just want smaller calves :(

I'm afraid of loosing weight and that they stay the same size. Also, I'm afraid of doing any type of exercise that emphasizes on the calves because I think they're going to get bigger.

Anyone, any suggestions?

I think that as you lose weight they'll shrink down. If it's mostly muscle...from what I read all over here, that's pretty easy to lose when you're losing weight too so you'll probably even out in the end. Don't be afraid to lose weight, you have no way of knowing how you'll look in the end and I'm sure your calves will get smaller. :)

I was reading around the forums after wards and if I didn't misunderstood, when someone looses weight, it takes away from the muscles.

Ahh, I hope it's true and that my calves shirnk to a normal size ha ha.
 
Your body does not lose just from one area. Although What is interesting is some of the heaviest people that I have met, have had calves that I would kill for.
