horizontal pullups

I saw a guy at the gym lie under a squat rack and start doing pullups with the bar, horizontal style. I guess it was to target the rhomboids more, but I had never seen that before. Anyone ever try these? Are they very effective?

I just started doing them mainly because I haven't built enough strength to do many reps of normal pullups. I have seen a tremendous benefit they really work my upper back, have become one of my favorite routines.

Yes as mentioned it is a good exercise. You can increase the difficulty by placing your feet up on a bench, rather than the floor. And as you gain strength, you can place a weight on your chest for added resistance

Yup, I feel them a ton. I put my feet up on a bench as well and sort of put my body in a downward plane. So your feet are up on the bench, and the rest of your body is going down creating about a 30 degree angle or so.

If they get easy, try holding yourself at the top position between reps.

That's pretty much it, but, as it says in the description and already mentioned on here, put your feet up on a bench.

Love them, great exercise that you don't see many people doing. I love supersetting my bent over rows with these during my high intensity weeks.

They're so awesome. It gives you that nice wide back that makes it so your arms bump away from your body, hehe. I feel a really good burn with these.

Yep, i love doing these, basically a row but w/your body weight. First time i did 'em i got some odd looks, now i see a few other dudes doing them now.
