Hoping to make a permanent difference

Hi, my name is Joshua, I'm in my late teens, 5'7", about 188 lbs, and I've struggled with my weight since around age 6. Long story short, I just kept gaining until by age 15, I weighed 185 lbs going into highschool. That year, I decided to join the wrestling team at my school, and though I'm quite the awful wrestler, I managed to drop 25 lbs in just six months. Unfortunately, when the season ended, I didn't stick to the exercise or healthy eating, and I gained 20 lbs back in a year. Of course, I was very disappointed, but I wasn't going to let that stop me. So, in my second year of highschool, I, once again, joined the wrestling team. This time, I managed to lose those 20 lbs, putting me right back where I was at the end of the previous wrestling season. This time, I was determined to keep it up, and I would have, except for a major issue: I became majorly depressed right around the time that the season ended, and I lost complete motivation to continue. Without boring everyone on the details, I still suffer with depression, though I'm much better now than I used to be. It's time I lose weight again, and this time, I hope to keep on losing until I'm somewhere around 145-150 lbs.

Now, of course, this is a major challenge. I recently got a membership to the gym, but I find it hard to go there for several reasons. I've got a difficult schedule what with school, therapy, piano lessons, etc. I guess I just lack the motivation to make this happen. This, of course, is where everyone here chimes in and tells me the really simple key to rapid weight loss that I've somehow overlooked all my life :p. Seriously, though, I need some major help here. I need encouragement and advice on how I should approach all of this. I've never once been a healthy weight in the last 11-12 years, and it's time I fix that.

AJosh, you are lucky to be able to start early.

If you enjoyed wrestling you may want to try Judo, what sports do you enjoy?

At your age it is not too hard (I am naturally prone to be fat but stayed fit for a chunk of my life)

Easy rules:
Nothing fried
Nothing with sugar added

That and some active choices (less screen time) and you should be able to make a change that lasts your life.

I wish I had the wherewithal to look for long term solutions from your age!

Alright, I apologize for my very long absence here. I had other things that had to be taken care of.

It's time I really get a hold on my weight. I am hoping to lose 1-2 lbs per week. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to g about this?
