I'm thinking of buying either a rowing machine, an elliptical trainer or a bike (stationary). Which is the better choice guys? And any success stories with any are appreciated too
well, i had an elliptical once and WOW that thing sucked, lol!! Just b/c I couldn't seem to do it for more than a few minutes. I now have a bike and I LOVE IT!!!! Mine specifically I really love b/c it has speakers for your MP3 player, a fan built into the head rest and a digital box that displays your time, calories, speed, ect...and it allows you to set the resistance. I get on that thing and go to town, lol
Was it an overly expensive one? All I'd want it to have really is the digital display, and sufficient resistance, the rest are all a bonus if they fall into my budget!
I just bought an elliptical with all the same features of the bike previously mentioned. I love it because it is low impact and my knees and shins don't hurt like they did on a treadmill. The only down fall to it is that it is 81" long and takes up space, but it does fold up some and in my case I can move it to the storage room in our basement real easily if needed.
As for a routine I have had it almost a week now and use some of the preset work outs which range from 20min to 45min and they will make you work up a sweat for sure.
We know that finding the best home gyms and deciding which one is right for you can be a daunting task. You want to get the most bang for your buck as well as find the best deal in a quality system that will last for years. We’ve reviewed numerous brands of home fitness and exercise equipment to bring you the best -- and point out the worst -- systems to help save you time and money.

IMO>. there really is NO overly expensive one when it comes to quality.
I highly, and I mean HIGHLY recommend that you NOT spend money on a cheap machine, because
A) They just don't last.
B) They don't feel good and you won't use them.
Make sure it's a machine that feels good. What I did is I tried to see how a few really expensive treadmills feel, then I shopped around for lower priced once. Some of them felt like the more expensive ones, some didn't.... I got one that did!
The best one may be different for each person. Bikes are low impact and not rough on feet and knees, but may be hard on the rear depending on the seat design. Elipticals, for me, are just awkward. The treadmill works best for me, but I like running. I'd actually like to add a bike just to change things up and go back and forth on different days.
I also have a total gym and a bowflex. There are certain things I like about each one better than the other and I like both a lot. You can do rowing on both of them and also do strength training. All things considered, I probably prefer the bowflex.
