As the title says, Im going back to the UK at the beginning of Dec 2010 for Christmas with my family. I will have been away from home for a year and a half and so I dont want to return and still be overweight. It would be great to feel confident and not wonder if i look fatter than when i left (which i do at the moment) so I really have to lose some weight...well quite a lot of weight if im truly honest.

At the moment i weigh 248lb and I am 5'8 tall. Im around 100lbs over my ideal weight - no small amount to shift!! i have tried and failed more times than I can remember and now i have an added incentive so i know that i can do it! i have to or i will hate myself more than ever.

So starting tomorrow morning I will be as healthy and as active as I can possibly be. Healthy meals and snacks, calories under 1500 each day, limited alcohol and lots of exercise! I can do it and I will do it...here we go!

Mini Targets!

Mini targets will make the weightloss a bit more managable and a bit less daunting than thinking about losing 100lbs!!

July 1st Target - Lose 20lbs - TARGET WEIGHT 228lbs

September 1st target - Lose 40lbs - TARGET WEIGHT 208lbs

November 1st target - Lose 60lbs - TARGET WEIGHT 188lbs

December 12th target - Lose 75lbs - TARGET WEIGHT 173lbs

Ideally I will then lose the remaining 25lbs after Christmas and hit my target weight at around this time next year :)

So I need to focus on the first target which is just over 6 weeks away...and I will be 20lbs lighter by then!!!

First weigh in will be next friday, let the exercise begin!

I have no doubts you can do it, was just reading and I think 1400 calories is way too little for you. I'm the same height as you and at about 165 and eating 1700 calories a day with some occasional exercise (not often if i'm honest) and I'm still losing on average about 2 pounds a week. I did the calculations and for a moderately active person of your weight and height you could be eating about 2500 calories a day (of healthy food bearing in mind) and still be losing about 2 pounds a week. 2.4 pounds a week is 1% of your body weight so that would be a relatively healthy loss :) I would recommend a higher calorie limit as I believe it would make you more successful in the long run, because lets face it, its just not fun eating a really low amount of calories long term. I hope you don't mind my butting in.

I wish you luck and lots of success on your journey, I'm sure you can do it :)

Nice goal to be planning for Christmas already!!

I should do the same for New Years!

You've got plenty of time to drop that weight. So far so good!
