Hi Holdthecarbs

First of all, congratulations on the weight loss on your first week. Even though it is mostly water weight, that initial spike of weight loss is a great motivation to keep going for the next few weeks.

I'm not clued up on Atkins diet too much, but I am aware that low carb intake is beneficial.

HOWEVER - carbs are NOT the enemy. Successful weight loss is achieved through regular exercise as well as healthy eating. But at the end of the day, we need energy to be able to do exercise. You get most of that energy from Complex Carbs.

You may have seen Nutrition Information on food packaging saying

Carbs - N
Of which sugars N

those sugars are simple carbs. They give you a quick boost, but your blood sugar will drop fast. You will feel really tired and your insulin spikes, which makes you "headachy" and give you false hunger.

Complex Carbs release energy at a slower pace, and stabilises your blood sugar level.

In my opinion, it's safe to have a low simple carb diet, but don't forget your complex carbs, which are your friend and a must for good levels of exercise.

Hope I haven't put you off your current diet. If you feel it is working then keep going. But a couple of times you mentioned feeling lethargic etc. This may be the low carbs.

Any questions, please ask.

Hello there! You're doing great so far :D!

How was the Harry Potter movie? Have you read the books? If you have how did it compare?

Good job 6 pounds already and some nice changes to your measurements! Keep it going :D

Thank you.
Harry Potter was satisfying. I'm not a big fan of either the books or the movies, but yeh, it was an enjoyable end to the franchise. You should check it out.

Day 9
Mood: Full

I was in a bad mood this afternoon.. but my blood sugar levels are so stable on this low-carb regime, i love not having a dip of energy mid afternoon.

B: Omelette
S: Chicken // Saint Agur
L: Prawn salad
S: Walnuts, SF Iced Decaf Americano w/ pouring cream, peanut butter, salami
D: Burger, cabbage, courgette in sesame oil // 1 tsp cream cheese with splenda

Can't believe i've made it to Day 9.

Day 10
Mood: Average

B: celery with pnb / decaf coffee with cream
S: Prawn cocktail
L: Chicken salad with avocado
S: Omelette that i was meant to have for breakfast / sf vanilla americano (decaf) w/ cream
D: Burger w/ cabbage and courgette

I can feel my chest bones today. Which is pretty cool.

Day 11
Mood: Alert

I feel good today. I've resisted so much temptation. Biscuits, cake, chocolate, maltesers. It's like.. everyone is trying to sabotage my low-carbing.

B: Omelette
S: Mexican chicken strips
L: Tuna-mayo salad
S: 11g cashews, sf iced decaf vanilla american with pouring cream.

No idea what's for dinner. I need to food shop.

Day 12
Mood: balanced

#school'soutforsummer

I look thinner.

B: Meat and cheese roll ups
S: Celery sticks with cream cheese and pnb
L: Brie salad

I totally agree about the sabotage.. I know people mean well, but can't they see I'm overweight?!?! A guy I work with came in yesterday and put two peppermint patties on my desk, and even though they're not terrible I've done a really good job of avoiding sweets in all forms. As soon as I saw them I was like, Thank you but TAKE THEM AWAY. I'm watching my calories.

It's like the most primitive offering of friendship and good will.. "Here, take this energy. I am a nice person, you are a nice person, we should exchange caloric intake. Bring me a return offering of cookies sometime."

Hold steady - people will ALWAYS try to sabotage your low-carbing! But never fear, someday in the very near future, you'll get the point where you think they are insane for eating processed crap! :hat:

Brie salad sounds yummy!

Keep up the good work!

I'm writing from Starbucks.
Am internetting and reading the Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution at the same time. He says I need to set a concrete goal because with Atkins/low carbing it is ATTAINABLE.

I don't know what my goal is.
Hmm.

Day 14 cont'd

B: Omelette
S: Cheese
L: Asparagus with boiled egg
S: SF iced vanilla americano with cream
D: Baked salmon with hollandaise and cabbage

I still don't know what my target is.
So my most recent start weight was 182. And I'm current 174.

Short term target: 168
TARGET: 138.

That's 36 whole pounds.

Day 16
Mood: Average

I'm thinking about what I'm gonna eat today and I'm not feeling that inspired. I need to get chicken out of the freezer.

Yesterday was good and i did soooo much walking.
