Hiya all

Hi i'm a 31 year old female weighing in at 196 pounds. I am 3 stone heavier now than I was when I was pregnant. nearly 5 years ago, once the children were in full time school, I started working again in an office and have basically got bigger every year and I am at the point where I can't ge any bigger.

I only started last week nd joined the gym, so I am very new to this and would be grateful if anyone could offer any tips or advice on how I can lose weight, without starving or fad diets.

I am working towards 1,590 cals a day (thats what I worked out from the brill sticky thread on here, doing vey light activity)

Mon-Wed-Fri - 1 hour in the gym doing, 10 mins bike, 15 mins rowing machine, 15 minutes cross trainer and 20 minutes treadmill (only walking yet, I want to build up slowly to jogging or running) Is this enough, or even the right training?

I find some of the day to be quite easy t count calories, such as at work, as I just type them onto the pc, but it's when I'm at home I find it difficult as I don't seem to count my tea so much then get myself muddled up, I hope this is just a matter of getting myself in the habit of good planning.
also, can I count cal's per week, rather than per day, as some days I seem to consume more and some days a lot less?

Thank you for taking the time to read my long story! :seeya:

Of course you can count per week, instead of per day!
Although I wish you luck because I found counting calories so time-consuming
and tedious! An hour at gym sounds great!
If you haven't been exercising much before this then exerting yourself more than
usual is bound to help you lose weight so just keep at it!
Welcome to the board!!

hi, well doen for getting on the road to reaching your goals. the only comment i will make is be careful with counting calories, i find it can become an unhealthy obsession especially if it works for a while (in 90% of my cases) and then stops working people just end up reducing more and more and more and more and get themselves into a rut.

the majority of the time of you are eating 1 ingredient foods that come from the edges of the supermarket isles (fresh counters) then you are on teh right track and wont ever put any junk in your system. so....meat, fruit, veg, nuts, seeds, dairy and lugumes - simple!

and its all healthy stuff
