Hitting the wall

Hi

I dont have much stamina and havent been working out much in the past. But when I do now, I hit the wall really quickly, like within 2 minutes from using a cross stepper or a treadmill or a bicycle, even if Im taking it really slow. Im not overweight and Im only 23. I try to wait after hitting the wall and seeing if I can try again but I am literally exhausted and will have to leave it til the next day, no matter what I try (sports drinks, eating carbs etc).

Any ideas on what I can do? Should I just keep pushing myself once I get to the wall? Or is there something else I can do?

Thanks.

you have a slightly different definition of hitting the wall. Anyway what you need to do is start slower. e.g start walking for 30 mins, then as you progress increase speed. Use a heart rate monitor and start working in lower heart rate zones. Try keeping your heart rate around 120 bpm which would be a relatively low HR zone.

That doesn't sound good. If you are 23 years old and not overweight there isn't anything that should exhaust you in just 2-3 minutes! If you are using the easiest settings on the treadmill or bike and getting exhausted I would go see my doctor to make sure there is not something wrong. The thing that bothers me most is that you can't recover enough in a couple of minutes to resume the workout. Good luck to you!

I 2nd Siggy's comments. Whens the last time you had a full physical with blood work, EKG, Pulmonary testing, ect? In general how do you feel? Tired? Do you sleep a lot and still feel exhausted each day? Have you ever been tested for Mono?
