Hittin' my stride.....literally

I have just started an adventure in which i want to lose around 40 pounds in accordance with both my desire to be fit mixed with my choice to enlist in the U.S. Navy. Right now i weigh around 240 and am 6 feet tall which everyone says is nearing a dangerous level for my body type.

I joined this because i wanna hear other people's advice for someone two weeks or so into his pt.

Things like calories and what my body needs, how much exercise and what exercise i should be focusing on.

I right now do about two hours of cardio both walking and jogging on a treadmill every day, with some strength training on my arms about 4 days a week.

You know basically the scope of my life right now, any suggestions or facts of enlightenment for me?

Welcome! 40lbs no problem, you've come to the right place. Take a look at the stickes under teh "general" forum, ther efull of great info and will point you in the right direction on geting started.
Best advice I have is to setup a food diary and trak what you are eating. It puts things into prespective quick when you see how many calories that "healthy" Asian chicken saled from Applebees really has..
The next thing is that since your heading into the Navy, that you should look at (if your not already) getting much more active physically. A morning jog, and say hitting the gym in the day will really help with getting you down to your goal weight.
good luck!
