High bodyfat?

I'm a 30 year old male 5"10' and over the last 9 months or so I've dropped just over 10kg. At my last weigh in I was 71.4kg and 23% bodyfat, according to a hand held bodyfat monitor. I mostly do pull ups/press ups/sit ups and have some definition in my chest and arms.

When I was 77kg I had a bodyfat of 27%. By my calculations I've lost more than a kg in muscle and for me to get down to 10% bodyfat I'd have to weigh about 61kg.

Does that sound right?

Depending on HOW you lost 10kg, yeah its quite possible you lost lean muscle mass in the process.

Individuals vary, but I recommend lowering carb intake, increasing protein, and HEAVY weights when trying to shed bodyfat (coupled with taking in fewer calories than you burn, and cardio of course).

If you don't give the body a reason to hold on to muscle tissue, it gets rid of it when calories nose dive.

I guess I must have lost it from my legs as I can't see how it would be from my upper body

What concerns me more is my calculation of 61kg to be 10% bodyfat... that sounds massively underweight to me.

Dude, you might end up with 10% body fat but weight more then 80 kilos, weight is irrelevant when we are conversing about muscle definition...
