I'm just curious...
Someone mentioned to me about hi and lo gi today. I just want someone to confirm if what i'm presuming is true.
Here goes...
High Gi foods gives out a boost in energy quickly, whilst low GI foods gives out energy slowly. So, I was under the impression that High Gi = simple carbs and Low Gi = Complex carbs. But no, I figured that white rice can be a complex carb but high GI at the same time.
So... would it be true to say that ALL simple carbs are HI GI? While complex carbs can be seperated in to Hi, Medium and Low GI? If so, is it possible for a simple carb to be Low GI?
Which gives me another question.
If eating 2 hrs before a workout, should I eat Low Gi foods? and if eating 30 mins before a workout, should I eat Hi Gi foods? I guess..I should mix them up right?
And, for post workout meals, should I eat Hi Gi foods with whey so that the protein will be absorbed in to the muscles as fast as possible?
