Thank you so so much for you're kind support and encouragement means a whole lot! I am 5'1 and weigh 13st 8.5lb so got a way to go!
If we could only lose weight at the same rate that we originally gained it (or slower, what with taxes and all!), we'd really be in trouble!
One rather silly way to look at it is that it takes most women about 9 months to "gain" 7-8 lbs of baby, but that "weight" is generally "shed" within the hours that it takes to give birth. (If you'll allow me to ignore both the weight gained at pregnancy that is not lost during childbirth, and the vast differences between losing weight and giving birth...)
And then there's Aesop's old fable about the Tortoise and the Hare who had a race to see who could lose the most weight:
The Hare went on the 24-Carrots-Per-Day Crash Diet, and lost tons of weight at right away.

He looked great for a while, but gained all that weight back as soon as he went off the 24kt Diet and back to his normal eating patterns.
(I hear he's now considering Hare-iatric surgery

).
The Tortoise followed a sensible, healthy diet & exercise plan, and lost about a pound per week. She got terribly frustrated and impatient with just plodding slowly and steadily along...

But she kept with it anyway, and now she's slim and healthy.
(I hear she's getting herself fitted for a sexy new shell. :coolgleama: )
And I said the giving-birth thing was silly... I guess I'm sometimes just a silly person.
But I'm a silly person who is going to lose the weight I need to lose and get healthy, and keep that weight off and stay healthy. And you are a person who is going to to do just the same (losing weight & staying healthy, that is - any silliness on your part is entirely optional).
