Hi…this is my first post ever on a forum…so here goes…

I discovered you while I was looking for ways and reasons to stay on track with my new health plan. I read a lot of your stories and messages for support that I decided not only to join you, but to tell you my story:

I’m a 24 years old girl struggling with weight problems my entire life.
But this year is different. For the first time I researched and read a lot of books and decided I want to be healthy.
My primary goal is to eat healthier, exercise more and tone my body.
I stopped eating fast food for over 5 months. Since January I stopped drinking soft drinks, only water and unsweetened lemonade.
At the beginning of February I started my first serious exercise program and I am learning to enjoy the stationary bike.

But, I am an emotional eater. I eat mostly when I’m sad or angry. And this week has been the first time in 3 months I ate again without thinking. I managed to keep in control the amount of sweets I eat, but not the quantity.

I hope some day I’ll be among the ones posting their Before&After pictures.

ughhh, i am an emotional eater too...although i want to eat when i'm happy. and fortunately or maybe unfortunately in this case, happy is my normal mood, and i'd love to be able to eat all day everyday whatever i want. things just don't work like that though. :)

try to channel your emotions into something else...if your angry, take it out at the gym instead of eating. i know i have some of the best workouts when i'm angry. if your sad, hang out with some friends to cheer you up.

what is your diet like?
do you do any other types of exercise besides the bike?

i find that the way i get motivated the most is either wanting to fit into an outfit that i have or telling myself if i lose this amount of weight by this date, then i can purchase myself something...a purse, shoes, a massage, anything that i want at that time. i also have a few pieces of clothing that i have from when i was previously at 118 lbs, that i try on once a week to see how my body has changed, or if the clothing just fits...i have jeans, a dress, a skirt, and a form fitting shirt. it gives me a lot of motivation when the jeans i had on two weeks ago that were tight on my legs, fit perfectly.

hope some of any of this helps...and most importantly, good luck :)

Diet:
- I eat 3 meals a day, with 2 snakes (mostly fruits)
- I stop eating with 3 hours before I go to bed
- I drink 2 liters of water a day
- I avoid fried food, pork, fatty food and try to eat as much fruits and vegetables as possible

Exercises – I combine stationary bike (5 days a week) with dumbbell exercises and stretching (3 days a week)

Thanks for the advice, and good luck to you, too… :)
