Just wanted to say HI! I am new to the forum. I am working out to go into the Army Nurse corp this fall. Any hints from anyone to a new runner?

Hi Melba, you'll be toasty in no time - sorry bad pun.

Running is great but hard on the knees. i recommend not falling into the trap most get sucked into, it's hard so make it intensive. Don't walk for miles because running is hard, better to run hard for a short distance. If you can find some hills - work as hard as you can and impove every day.

Yours,

Chris.

I'm new here too!

I've finished 5 half marathons and many shorter races. for running building up cardio strength is super important but also when you're out on your runs and feel you have to walk try jogging at a very slow pace and even though walking might seem even faster--it'll help your mind keep in that runners' position.

good luck keep me updated on when you hit a runner's high.
