Hi everyone.
I've been reading posts for the past couple days and you all have such motivational stories!
I have been overweight all my life (I'm 22 now) and have never been motivated enough to stick to my weight loss goals. It wasn't until recently that I took a class offered at my university that focused on health and health interventions that I realized how unhealthy I really was. I've started my FINAL weight loss attempt about a week ago and realized that the only way to get through this was to get some support and motivation. That's where you guys come in!
I'm hoping to really get to know some people on this board, and learn things from you all. All your stories of success have really inspired me to keep going, even on the days that I really don't feel like it... so thank you!

Welcome to a GREAT support network :). I used to 160lbs and with determination, focus and careful planning you can DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!! Let us know how we can help you in meeting your goal.

well, to lose the weight, i'm keeping a food journal and writing down everything i eat. i'm trying to stick between 1500-1600 calories per day which is really hard since i'm a night snacker. i give myself one "cheat day" a week though, where i can eat ONE thing that isn't that great for me. last week, it was a small cup of ice cream : ) i feel like this is the only way to keep me from feeling deprived and relapsing. i also have been working out at least 4 days a week for an hour each session. this week, i've done 5 days.
the weight isn't coming off as fast as i'd hoped it would, but oh well.. i guess 2 or 3 pounds isn't that bad for a week... i'm just a person that wants results now! lol.
thanks for the welcomes.

GrooveArmada, congrats on your weight loss so far!
so what have you been doing to reach your weight loss goals? also, how long did it take you to get to where you are today? any info would be helpful since we seem to be similar in weight +/- 10 pounds : )

2-3 lbs a week is fantastic and a healthy rate of weight loss. I lost a whole 0.6 lbs last week. :D As for wanting those results now, my mantra is that you didn't get to where you are now overnight nor will you fix it overnight. But if you fix it right, and 2-3 lbs a week is good, you'll be much better off and much healthier as a result.
