Hi I'm John. I found these forums yesterday and decided to sign up. I'm well over 200 lbs right now and wanna get in shape. I haven't excersized in years. I read about the HIIT and will probably do that along with weight training with my new Bowflex Selecttech dumbbells.:D I've got this real big beer belly right now. It's annoying and half my pants don't fit anymore. I got one question to start with tho. Is that HIIT as good as any other cardio? I found this a while back and I get chest burns often. They go away after going a few days without drinking.

I don't wanna die in my 50's or 60's from a heart attack. I will be 24 years old next month.

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
I am experimenting with HIIT at the moment.
I have been doing steady state cardio for a couple of months now, but reading this forum it seems like HIIT is the way to go.
I am not sure if I am fit enough to go straight into HIIT, so I am starting off by doing normal interval training first. This means that I do 1 minute fast and 1 minute slow rather than just medium pace for all the time.
This week I tried my first HIIT session and it was really tough. I think I may have to build up to it first.
Give it a go, but don't over do it at first and injure yourself. If it is too much, try normal interval trainging for a couple of weeks first.
The main thing is that you are doing something.
Best of luck and let use know how you get on.
Cheers.

Hello!! You're off to a good start. Now you just need to get the exercise going. I bet your beer belly will start going away fast as soon as you get in some cardio, especially since you haven't excercised in years. Do it!! Work it!
