new to this site, looking for some help in loosing weight; one thing i cannot do is running/or jogging, can ride a mountain bike and walk, was wondering if weight lifting or exercise equipment at a gym will help in loosing weight have major tire around middle, the doctor wants to do gastric bypass but i don't unless i can not loose the weight i need help and advice.

Hi Gary welcome to the forum. Congrats on taking the steps to change your life. There is lots of excercise to do without going to a gym. Riding bikes and walking are excellent...walking is especially good for your mid section and is easy on the joints. However, I would suggest asking your question in the "harsh truth" section, where you can get some answers from pros. Good luck to you.
