:) Hey there. My name is Windy. I'm 23 yrs old. Married with three children ages 4 and a half, 19 monthes, and 8 months. After having my last 2 children and now being low thyroid, my weight has reached 249. I want to weigh 150, not just to feel good about myself, but for my health and my children. I was wondering if they is anyone who has an underactive thyroid who can tell me what diet they follow and how they maintain there weight. I'm looking forward to meeting new people

Welcome to the WLF and congratulations to you for taking the steps you need to in order to reach your goals!

I don't know if there are any diets specific to a low thyroid - you might consider talking to your doctor.

I started out fairly close to your weight and we have similar target goals. I found what helped me was watching my calories (I never thought I'd be a calorie counter) and exercise.

If you haven't already checked out or you might consider it, they're both great sites for getting a really clear idea of how many calories you're eating a day.

It would also be great if you started a diary in the diary section, this is a great place to find support!
 
Are you on thyroid medication? Is it low or just subnormal. If you have been put on medication, you will definitely lose weight and have increased energy just from that alone. If it is not low enough to be put on medication, you may have low energy levels and have a lot easier time gaining weight. Even if you are tired, exercising, and chasing after three little ones probably gives you a lot of that. Cardio-exercise will increase your energy level and help you burn calories. Following a low cal, low fat diet would also increase your energy and help you lose weight.
