hi there

Hello guys and girls.

Im tomas, Im 32 years old and a fitness nut.

I have wanted to be a personal trainer for a couple of years now.. I help out my friends and I think I would be really good at it.

Would this help me get going? > ?

Also, do I HAVE the become certified?

thanks in advance

Don't do it, he is showing you how to run a professional business, but I stopped reading the add after 6 typo's. Not that nobody on this forum, myself included, is perfect, but I hope if I put a website like that up I'd edit it first.
Go to ACSM or the other one... man, which one is it guys? CSCS something like that.

You don't HAVE to become certified at all, but it is helpful in that you have something to tell people you have done, and also in the learning process, because you just might actually learn something you didn't know before. Also, a lot of the forms that he says he will give you I think you will find elsewhere easier. If you don't want to start your own business from scratch, see if there is someone around you who believes the same way you do about fitness and see if they need any help. Someone who has TOO many clients (yeah, wouldn't that suck) might want someone else to work with to allow for more flexibility in the schedule.

You will however want to get a certification to work in a gym.. if that is what you want to do.

Good luck.

thanks for the quick reply.
Well I wouldn't want to work in a gym. I have heard that pays less?
Do you have any advise on how to promote myself? Apart from word of mouth because that can take some time and I dont have a rep yet.

Depends on who you want to work with. Personally, being a spoiled should be home housewife, I concentrate on working with Moms and kids, that allows me to get home to be with my husband and kids at night, and I have actually been able to take my kids to many of my clients. If however you are looking for some more intense training (bulking etc.) you may be interested in checking into some businesses that will help you promote yourself, because they want their employees to be fit etc. Of course, if you are interested in rehab etc. go get to know a doc or two and some Physical Therapists. Insurance does not pay for enough, but many people could benefit from personal training... so get hooked up with a few people who want more for their patients and are willing to work with you, as a team, to help them be healthier.
If interested in helping kids get fit look into teaching or helping with a weight lifting program at a high school or Junior high.
Again, go for a good certification, because just like doctors we need to continue to learn, and they kind-of make you do it. It can be a pain in the ass too, but hey, that's ok. I think it is worth it... if you get a good one.
