Hi there, I'm broadwayfan32 and I'm new here. I'm 20 years old, 5'3" and weigh 218.2. I have an eating problem. I eat when I'm stressed, emotional, and bored. I tried Weight Watchers but I couldn't stick with it. I just really some tools to help me lose weight.

Welcome broadwayfan32! What is your level of activity? generally to reduce and keep fat off it takes both exercise and reducing the amount of what you eat along with what you eat. Truthfully, it takes a lot of time and effort to lose fat but the most important thing is to keep it off for life, that's the hard part and takes a re-structuring of one's lifestyle, the way you view your life. You do have to become a master of your will.

We're all here to help you with getting through your efforts.

Read around and lots of questions!

Welcome to the forum.

Lots of us are apt to eat when we are stressed, emotional and bored.

I do too...

We can do no better than our best... Try to become more active and try to eat cleanly as much of the time as possible...

The following techniques help me sometimes so they may help you:

- substitution - I always figure that it is better to eat sugar free sweets and gum are better than eating the full calorie version... also - if you eat a lot of fruit it will not be as high in calories as some things and a fair proportion may pass through without too much damage... it is far from ideal - but better than eating a loaf of bread or a giant pizza...

- distraction... if you can get someone to distract you or go and do something where there is no food that can work... even going out for a walk can be a good idea... it is actually quite hard to eat while doing any form of exercise so if you exercise you burn off some of the surplus calories that you may have started eating and you have made a window where you had not eaten...

Every day that you adopt a healthy lifestyle it becomes more automatic - more the way that you live your life... it does get easier... just try to build a run of good hours into days and days into weeks... before you know it you will have had some good months and seen definite progress in changing your shape.

I suggest that you read the following thread - it may help you settle in and make friends
