Hi there everybody

Well hello, all. I hope this is going to give me the support I need to keep exercising and eating correctly. I haven't had much of a look around the forums, but I will get there in due time.

I'm a student in Montana studying music education. 20 years old and looking to be a little bit happier with my appearance. I just went up a jean size and not only am I feeling icky, but it's EXPENSIVE to have to buy new clothes.

I completely understand about the expense of having to get the next size up. Ug! It's just a bit more fun to go down rather than up. Plus you can learn to RElove those skinny clothes. I only wish I had started to pay attention to my exercise & eating habits when I was 20. You are going to be so glad you didn't just wait til you are 30 to get healthy.

There is a ton of great information & success on this site.

Just dive & check out the diaries, challenges & other areas. Maybe even join in a challenge.

Are you tracking you calories? I used to think I was eating less than I actually was til I counted them. I use Sparkpeople.com.

I'm not really sure what to tell you other than stick with it. It gets hard at times, especially when you don't see progress as fast as you want to. Which is where having this site & other who are going through similar struggles has helped me.

Take it day by day & do what you can.

Just remember its calories.

Good luck. Glad you are here.

I've been overweight since around sixth grade, so it's been a fairly long time that I've tried on and off without much motivation.. not sure what actually made me want to get serious about it this time, but I'm glad I have.

I've actually already started a diary and joined a challenge! I think the challenge is going to be difficult as I have surgery coming up, but I'm sticking to it none the less.

I actually am not going to count calories for about a month or two, my reason being that I just wasn't eating healthy before, so I want to make the move to first eating healthy, then counting what I eat. I think it'll be less stress on my body that way.

Thanks for the welcome :)

Hope everything is ok with the upcoming surgery. Does sound like a stressful time on your body, but no time like th present to make changes. I'll have to check out your diary...

Glad you hit the ground running. The challenges are awesome motivation & the diaries are a lifesaver somedays.
