I randomly found this website while searching for information about weight loss. I am 23 and have been overweight for most of my life. I look forward to learning and losing while getting to know everyone. I currently weigh 275 # and I think I would like to lose 90-100 #s.

Hi!!
Welcome & Good luck with your weight loss.
I have roughly the same amount as you to lose. Do you have a goal date of when you'd like to acheive your ideal weight?

??? I dont know

I haven't ever really put much effort in to weight loss so I am not exactly sure what is a safe/reasonable amount of time to try to reach my goal in. What is the time frame you have to reach your goal?

Well for me and im guessing for most it'll be a good idea to set little goals at a time rather than thinking "oh gosh i've got to lose 100lb's!" My first goal is to drop 10lb's by the 31st of january. Think maybe you could set yourself some small goals but just have a rough idea in mind of when you would like to be at your ideal weight. Mine is next summer (2008) cuz i know it's going to take a long time to come off and alot of hard work will need to be done.

Hi Stylee,
Welcome to the WLF!

I agree with summergurl, setting smaller goals really helped me.

When I first started losing weight, I had over 100 pounds to lose, and I was almost overwhelmed! It seemed unsurmountable - however, the biggest thing I've learned is that a pound is a pound, and they all come off one at a time. Just concern yourself with the first 5 in front of you and don't think about the 80th, 90th or 100th pound out there waiting to be lost.

What is amazing is you'll wake up one day and 30 pounds will be gone, and it kind of hits you like, "Oh wow, when did THAT happen!"

You can do this :) It's just one pound at a time!

Thanks Summergurl and M2M, I will have to keep that in mind. It reminds me of the movie What About Bob "Baby Steps".

Good luck! Getting started (or re-started as I had to do after the holidays!) is always the worst part of it. Once you get into it and start losing some weight and get a rhythm going, time will fly! Congrats on making a healthier life for yourself!

healthy start

Today I woke up early and had 3 eggs and a yogurt for breakfast. I had an apple for a snack, and for dinner I had a southbeach diet prepackaged wrap. I think my total calories so far are only at 700 tho, and i noticed that people on here recommend 1200. Is it okay to eat more even tho its 7:44 pm here or should i just focus on eating a bit more tomarrow?
