Hi, Ive always sussed this site out though never joined.. so i thought it was about time i did.
I am 22, live in Brisbane, Australia, and decided to lose some weight last year, I started at 112kg and eventually worked my way down to 83kg. Unfortunately after a messy break up and the festive season, i awoke on new years day weighing up at 97kg(!!!!) I dont want to be the weight i was, so have started putting the thoughts into action, and get down to 80kg, so far i am down to 92kg.
i hope to recieve heaps of information on fitness from this site as well as plenty of motivation from you all. :)

first of all how many kg a week can i lose without it being unhealthy ?
and why is it unhealthy to do so ?
thanks guys
Willie.

If you lose weight too quickly you're losing more than just fat. Lean muscle tissue is something you want to keep! Also, too fast weight loss is almost never sustainable.

If you need any help or advice, feel free to PM me anytime you wish.

Some tips I give to get people started:

--- Eat 5 - 6 small meals a day
--- Incorporate weight training (!!!!)
--- Make sure you're getting adequate protien
--- A good multivitamin is your friend
--- Use a calories per day calculator to get a general estimate of your caloric needs are and develop a slight caloric deficiency

Dont stress too much if you loose a ton of weight in the first week or two if a diet however. Thats normal :)

Hi Shift,
Welcome to the WLF :)
I think the biggest thing to remember with long term weight loss goals, is that it just takes time and consistency.

Sometimes it's one day at a time, sometimes it's one meal at a time.

Best of luck to you!
