Hi I'm 34 years old, 6 years ago I was diagnosed with diabetes. I was put on insulin shots, blood pressure meds, and cholesterol meds to regulate all of this. Now mind you I was 6'1" and 345 lbs at the time. My blood pressure and cholesterol were a little above normal, but since I was diabetic I was put on meds. After a few years of half-heartedly taking meds and dieting, I gave up and quit meds and ate whatever I wanted. Well, in Feb 2011 my wife asked me if I wanted to go to the local park and walk, I rolled my eyes and agreed. We walked prob. A mile and a half, I almost died. I stuck with it and a week later I noticed results. Now almost 5 months later and 43lbs lighter I am addicted to walking, and constantly pushing myself. I walk 5 miles a day and alternate days with a backpack containing the weight I lost. Now no more meds and a drive to stay that way, I still have a ways to go. To me there is no end in site. Some people think I'm crazy walking in 100 degree 100 percent Louisiana humidity with 40 lbs on my back, but I am determined to stay on that path for a healthier life.
