Hi... introducing me

Hi everyone....

Well where do I start??

My name is Deb, I am 33 years old and live in the UK. I found this forum purely by chance this afternoon after thinking I need some help and support from fellow weight loss folk.

I have been on the large size all of my life - I am now the largest I have ever been and its starting to get me down.

I know I am big... very big and in the past have tried to do something about it but with little sucess. I have decided that 2007 is going to be the year that I do something about my weight problem.

As I sit here... I am thinking what a huge journey I have ahead of me... I do have a great loving and supporting husband and family behind me but it still seems a long long way off....

I currently weight 350pounds So.... any tips guys?

Thanks
x

Heya's Deb,
Welcome and goodluck to ya!I have been heavyier
pretty much all my life a chubby child then an obesed adult!
There is hope what I found that helps is #1 start a diary and
make yourself feel obligated to update it daily with the foods you
eat and exersices you do and this will help see where you stand
and you can see what you do right and wrong.#2 Find what works
for you and stick to it drink plenty of water try to do maybe starting out
walk a 1/2 mile then eventually work your way up or do a at home
exersice videoect.
Tips that helps keep me on track is My kids I want to go out and take
them places I watch home movies that have me in it or look at pictures
and this really motivates me,also buy something cuite a size or 2 smaller
than work hard to fit into them then go buy again something smaller this
helps.Well I hope all these ideals work for you as they have for me.
Have a gr8 weekend and a Happy New Year,Tammy:)

hello!

Hi from Canada! Im currently at 310lbs..well thats a guess..i stepped onto an electric scale christmas day and the numbers climbed to 308 before it flashed max capicity.. yeesh..anyhoo..im starting Jan 1st..i know people say " Dont wait to Jan 1st!" but thats what im doin anyway. hee hee,, Some tips for you..I once took off a bunch of weight (i put it all back on bc i fell into old habits) I best way to start is your eating habits..What i found very helpful is first take out all the junk out of your house!! if there's nothing in the fridge or cupboards to tempt u..u wont be temped. Also have prepared smacks and meals in your fridge..what i did was made a bunch of low fat healthy meals and stored them in the fridge so all id have to do is zap them in the microwave..the first week is tough..but once your used to it..it becomes easier..you'll see the weight melt off..just by changing what u eat...throw in some walking..and you'll be suprised. I also recomment not weighing yourself..do it every 3 months..and not only that measure your waist..i found if the scale didnt say what i wanted it to..when i measured my waist id see all the inches lost.Im doin this with you!! Good luck to all of us!! Leigh

Hi, I'm a newb also, but I have tried many diets. I've found that when I try my own diets I often find myself cheating a lot more. The only thing that's worked for me (even though I gained some of the weight back because of the holidays) was weight watchers. This may not be for you but you could go to one of the meetings... no contract! :) Even though they advise you to eat whole grains, veggies, and such and such... I still cheated a little and ate what I wanted as long as it was in the allowed amount of points. If it wasn't for this one aspect I would have given it up after a day... I'm not the type of person to make myself a broiled chicken with bland steamed veggies. :D PLUS, since I have to share my weight with the nice lady that weighs me in at the meetings, it pressures me more to keep in the rules. I hope this helps... GOOD LUCK!

Welcome to the forum! Shorter goals would be less daunting, I tell myself just be good today and worry about tomorrow...tomorrow. another tip would be up your water and fiber intake. They both will help you feel full and help cleanize your system. Keeping a diary is a good idea too.

Take care and hang in there.

Welcome to all the new people in this thread....my advice, DRINK PLENTY OF WATER!! At least 64 ounces a day if not more! :) Good Luck! I look forward to seeing your diaries!

I have looked around on the forum and I am sure that I have the most weight to loose.... daunting thoughs

It is daunting but if you take it in small steps like: today I am going to try to eat x amount of calories and drink x amount of water. Then you can add slowly: today I will park near the back of the parking lot and walk to the store or take the stairs or even go to the gym and walk for 20 minutes. For me going gung ho right away means I will burn out quickly. However my friend did Atkins (here is the link if your interested: ) and has lost 100 lbs in 9 months. She has done an amazing job at sticking to her diet and in the beginning was running on the treadmill every day. She maintains that it doesn't matter what diet you are on but if you stick to something it will work. It all depends on what will work for you! And imagine as you lose the weight how wonderful and healthy you will feel!!
