Hi, I'm New

Hi all! ^_^

I'm new as you can probably tell from my heading. I have some questions which I hope someone can help me with.

I 5'2 and weight 155. I'm overweight. My goal is to loose 20-30 lbs. I just recently joined a gym in my neighborhood. I'm a little afraid to go, but I really want to start being healthy. I've never worked out before. I'm usually at school or at work. I'm asian so my eating habit is mostly...breakfast - rice, lunch - rice, dinner - rice.

I was wondering if you guys can help me out. Should I work out everyday? How many hours should I work out? What machines would benefit me? Treadmills? What should I do about my eating habits? How do I know how much calories to eat and work off? I'm totally new to this, so I'm in need of total help. And I'm probably forgetting some other important thing, so please teach me. I'm here very eager to learn.

My target weight loss for a month is to loose 5 to 10 lbs. Oh I'd like to ask one more thing. My friend bought me a drink from Jamba Juice. They have an all fruit smoothie and drinks with less calories. Would you consider it good food? Thanks.

I would probably look into balencing your diet out a little bit.. Rice can be very good in moderation, but you also need your proteins and fats..

Anyways, welcome to the board.

So you paid for the gym membership and now you're not going? You should try to eat 5-8 times per day, smaller meals with a nice balance of protein, carbs, and fats. You shouldnt workout every day, but every other day or 2 and 1 is ok. Treadmill or eliptical is a good place to start for doing some cardio exercise. Check this link for demos on weight training. Try doing a full body workout two to three times per week, and dont be afraid to take it slow.
