Hello everyone! I'm Jay.

I'm a month away from turning 18, and all through my life I've had trouble with food and exercise. To be specific, I ate too much of the wrong stuff and was too lazy to run it off.

But now I've got to change all that. I'm going to make it my goal to get slim and hopefully shoot for those elusive 6-pack abs I keep hearing about .. but that's not on my *current* goals :D

I guess I should post my stats:
Current weight: 204 lbs
Body fat %: 24
Goal weight: 170 lbs
Height: 6'1"
BMI: 26.9

As to my methods .. I want to lose weight at a healthy rate. It would be nice to lose it at 10 lbs a week but that's just not practical so I'll aim for anywhere from 1-2 lbs/week. I figure that gives me 5-10 months, so I'll be at my goal weight right when I get out of college.

Please help me guide myself here, but even though I can't hold a run for more than 15-20 mins I have been told I should start basic HIIT .. and I have a busy schedule, with only 40 minutes of free time at any given time which only gives me 25 mins to work out (the rest to shower) any time. I can exercise at night though. I want to do it in the morning ....

I've got a good idea of the food I should be eating, and canned tuna, chicken salads, whole grain wheat bread, and good tea are things I'm no stranger to (and I love them too!).

I hope this post wasn't too long. Hopefully the longer I'm here the less awkward I'll get to feeling ;)

welcome jay!

To start, Any increase in activity and good choices in diet will start to shift your body slowly in the direction desire. Enjoy those easy changes while you can.

After you stop getting the easy progress you may want to look into planning your meals a little better, I'm a huge fan of calorie counting.

Also a huge fan of strength training.

Good luck!

this is a great place for support!
