Hi! I'm new, very physical and can't lose anymore weight

I had a baby 20 months ago. I was in the army before that. I played soccer in highschool before that. I am 5'3. I weighed a solid 117lbs for most of my highschool years. When I joined the army I gained weight and was around 122, almost solid muscle, but I still had womanly curves. I had my son and got out. I got up to 174 at 9 months pregnant. I have been going to the gym for the past 7 months. Right now I go to spin class 3-4 days a week, I go to step once a week, and I do a core fusion class once a week (all one hour long). I also lift weights whenever I can fit those in, usually twice a week. I don't over eat, I am also not a dieter, but I tend to chose health(ier) foods, although I am far from a health nut, I just don't eat fried food and beef all the time. I have gotten down to 125 and cannot lost a single ounce. I only want to lose 3 more pounds, but it is not happening!!! The first 4 or so months I did weights for 30 minutes and cardio for 30 minutes every single day, within the last 3 months have I been doing more cardio in the form of aerobics classes. I am a size 6/4, mostly 6, I just want to be more lean. What is going on?

First, why do you want to loose any more weight? You seem to be at a pretty healthy weight already? What is your body fat percentage?

A general observation: in many individuals excess cardio actually prevents additional fat loss because it causes the release of a hormone called cortisone which signals the body to store fat. One theory is that this is because after a long cardio session the body expects you to do it again soon and thinks it needs to store fat for energy to fuel the next long cardio session. Reducing cardio to 20-30 minutes 2-3 times a week and increasing resistance training to 40-60 minutes at least 3 times a week might work better for you. Changing one or 2 of your cardio sessions to HIIT or Tabita sessions also might help. Many women actually loose inches (and dress sizes) while gaining weight on a routine like this since they are reducing body fat and increasing lean body mass which is more compact and healthier!

I agree with dswithers. A similar thing happened to me. I put on 3kg out of no where, but measurements hadn't really changed. Cortisone decided to release itself because I was doing so much cardio. I have cut back since then

I hope you find useful info on here :)

Thanks so much guys!! I hate to cut back, because I love doing my cardio classes, and my spin, it is so heart healthy and makes me feel great, I only want to lose 3 more pounds to get back to my pre pregnancy size/weight, it is no biggie, I was just perplexed!
