hi! i'm 15 years old and i'm really overweight. i have a thyroid problem which makes it harder for me to lose weight. i take the medicine like i'm suppose to, and i try to exercise. but i can't ever stick to a routine. honestly, i hate exercising and usually i only do it once or twice and then i stop because i don't like it. and i'm not going to lie, i'm lazy too. but i need to lose a lot of weight, and any advice would help. i don't have a gym i can go to, so i go on youtube and there's a girl on there who makes workout videos. her username is blogilates. whenever i work out i do one of her cardio videos. but i can't do weight training or anything like that, so i don't really know where to start in my journey of losing weight. and if i do workout, it's usually 30 minutes 2 times a week or so. but i want to do like 30 minutes 5 times a week? would that be enough to lose weight if i cut back on my eating? and i'm also trying to eat better because i'm really picky and i don't like veggies and most types of meat. thank you :D

I also hated exercising and eating vegetables when I was extremely overweight, but whether we like it or not, permanent weight loss requires permanent lifestyle changes. Those changes don't happen over night, and it takes time to get used to them. Try to go cycling 4 times a week for 20 minutes to start out. Cycling is a much better option for very overweight people than jogging, for example.
As you get fitter and lose weight, increase the cycling sessions to 30 minutes.

Also, ditch all the sweets and sodas. All of them. They're your worst enemy.

hi
i think that you should look at it as "making order in your life" and in my opinion a grate palce to start is with your eating habits. Go to a profetional dietitian and build with his help a menu that you'll be happy with. DON'T think about all the other stuff like exercise ect. Go one step at a time, if not you will fall everytime and really fast. changing habits is not an easy task that is why you should take it slow, use the help of proffetional people dont make it to hard on your self give your self the proper time.

good luck

Welcome to the forum.

It is good and very important that you are careful and take your medication just as you describe.

You say that you do not like vegetables - but I think that you should look at that idea carefully. There are a lot of different vegetables out there - and I suspect that you do not like some vegetables but there are a lot of other vegetables out there that you do not really know whether you like or do not like them... That is a bit like saying that you do not like desserts just because you know that you do not like ice cream or jelly...

I will always remember having this same conversation with San here - and it turned out that she knew that she didnt like about 5 or 6 veg so had given up on all of them...

I suggest that you make a list of the veg that you know that you do not like and then check what other vegetables that you could try... Try a new vegetable every day until you have tried every vegetable that you find listed on the internet in the various veg lists...

As for exercise - I hated exercise when I was at school... It really was not right for me... I actually gave up exercise classes when I was at school when the opportunity arose to do extra maths instead...

I have however found that I love zumba... The music carries along and I find the dances a lot of fun... Maybe there is the opportunity to do something like that... If you do not like one kind of exercise - it does not mean that you do not like any of it...

When I started I was very big... Probably a lot bigger than you are... I can tell you that being very big is not a lot of fun... I had got so that it had an impact on my quality of life... I had pretty much stopped going out much at all...

I started off by walking... The pleasure from walking came in the sense of achievement and accomplishment for having done it... It was more work than fun... I could see that it helped me take control of my weight and I got pleasure from that too...

The exercise and healthy eating may not seem like much fun - and you might feel lazy - but it is well worth doing just the same... I could have had a lot of fun in the 20+ years that I was a very big person if I had been of a normal size and able to do everything that I had wanted to do... It is really not brilliant watching other people do things and wishing that you could join in... It isnt a riot of laughs walking along the street while idiots make make loud comments about your size (I hated it when that happened)...

For me - not eating junk and eating healthily and doing regular exercise (which I actually enjoy) is a small price to pay...

I suggest that you read the following thread - it may help you settle in and make friends

Good luck with your project.
