Just saying hello to everyone out there! I'm on a quest for Personal Happiness, which I don't expect to find solely through diet and exercise, but those are two ingredients that I am concentrating on these days!
I am 34, divorced and in a wonderful relationship going on a year and a half. I am loved for who I am and I am so thankful for that, but the person who needs work on loving me is me.
I started an exercise program for the first time ever about two years ago. I started out at 274 pounds and through steady visits to the gym and vigilant food journaling I managed to lose a steady 10 pounds a month until I reached 215 pounds. Then I met my boyfriend, got complacent, and gained back 25! I'm not one for New Years Resolutions but I work well with deadlines so this year, I'm committed to getting back on track. After being sick for two weeks I've hit the gym like my old self and lost 7 pounds so far.
I record everything I eat. I am on a diet of 1450 calories, with 40% of the calories from carbs, 30% from protein and 30% from fat, OR, 108 g protein/day, 48 g or less of fat/day and 145 g carbs/day.
I mix up my exercise a little, and don't overdo it- I know me. If I think it's way too hard, I won't even go back! So I push a little, but not too much. I don't live at the gym, but I do go at least 3x/week. I do weights 2-3x/week, and the days I don't I do more time on the elliptical or treadmill. I'm working my way up on time; days off from weights I'm doing 45 minutes of cardio. Days lifting weights I'm doing 35 minutes cardio. These times will increase weekly by 2.5 minutes until I'm working out for 60 minutes on average.
It worked for me before, so I'm approaching my goals this time in the same way. Of course, I'm always open to trying new things, which is why I'm here! Hopefully I can offer a little advice from my own experiences and gain some valuable insight and inspiration from you all.
Whew! And can you tell I'm talkative, too?
