Hi,
I'm a 17 year old female, and I just started getting interested in health and fitness about a year ago. I stumbled upon this forum, and I thought it would be a good opportunity to learn a little bit about health, nutrition and fitness.
I am currently:
5'6"
116 lbs
20% Body Fat
I have a nice scale that estimates body fat through electrical waves. That is how I know my body fat.
My goals are:
120 lbs
14% Body fat
I consider myself an athlete. This is why I have chosen to work towards having a body fat percentage of 14. I know that anything below about 12 percent for women is unhealthy, unless you're an Olympic runner, which I'm not. I would like to build a more muscular, yet lean body. I have muscles now, I just can't see them. I want to gain about 6 pounds of muscle, and lose as much fat as I need to in order to be around 14%.
I have been doing weight training for about a year. I started my senior year in high school. I took a weight training class in school. It was very fun, and at the end of the year, I could bench about 110 lbs. Now that I'm out of high school I need a good workout routine that I can do at home. I signed up for weight training in college, but it only meets 3 times a week, and I don't start until august.
I also need help with figuring out a high protein diet that will work for when I am trying to gain muscle, and a low fat diet for when I'm trying to lose fat. I know it's hard to do both at once. Maybe I could get some tips on a muscle gain/fat loss program.
I really enjoy being in shape, and helping others get in shape. I know quite a bit about nutrition, but I thought I could come here to learn more. I'm not sure yet, but I think I might want to study to be a personal trainer/dietician. It looks like a very fun and rewarding job.
Thanks so much for your help!
