My name is Melissa Farrell, editor of strengthenandconquer.com. As a nationally certified personal trainer and powerlifter my goal is to help people, especially women, become more comfortable with lifting and getting themselves stronger. I think it's awesome you are encouraging women to lift.

Very rarely see women comfortable enough to come use the free weights in my gym. I saw one the other week and it impressed me because most women won't go near them.

They either believe some myth they will all of a sudden get really bulky over night, or they are intimidated by the fact it's a male dominated part of the gym, which is understandable.

Fact is I think most men, including myself would be happy to see more women using the free weights, (not for perving reasons, I go to the gym to workout and not for that) but just that women shouldn't think men have anything against them being in there using the free weights.
