Hi My name is Josh. I'm 20 and live in Ga. About 5 months ago I went to the doctor with abdominal pains. They didn't find anything wrong thank god. But when they weighed me I had a HUGE Shock. They told me I weighed 369 lbs!!! I was flored. I knew I was over 300 because the scale here at my house that we had only went up to 300. But 369?!?! I had no idea i had gotten up that high.

The months following that revelation I have been working on eating healthier. But it was befor the holidays. I know I probly gained weight durring that time. But in Jabuary I decided to buckle down on how I was eating. I but I still didnt have a scale that would weigh me. Until tuesday Febuary Second. I got on the scale and weighed in at 346lbs. I was astonished. I hadnt done any exercize, all I had done was watched my caloric intake and totally given up any kind of Soda. I know I had been eating between 1800 and 2200 calories a day.

Now I weigh in every tuesday. On the 9th I was 343 lbs, and on the 16th i was 340 even. So I have lost 3lbs a week since I got my scale, but still havent Exercized. They just built a gym near my house tho. And I will have my membership monday. I have broused these forums alittle befor, but decided to join and post to help me be accountable for continuing my weight loss journey. I look forward to getting to know people here. Thanks for reading this.

Josh,

Great work on getting your diet down to 1800 to 2200 calories. Congratulations. That is right where you need to be at your age and activity level. That is definitely the reason you are dropping weight. This is the intelligent way to lose weight. The exercise is the next intelligent step...make sure the doctor knows, though. Getting lean body mass up is the way to teach your body to burn calories will you are busy living your life.

What is it you plan on doing after you have lost your weight?

Hi and welcome. And congrats on your loss so far! :)

The first thing I'd suggest is registering for a free account on FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal or Calorie Counter, Diet Tracking, Food Journal, Nutrition Facts at The Daily Plate and starting to log your food. This will let you see how many calories you're eating and how your nutrition levels are breaking down. Once you know that, you'll be able to see more clearly where you can make adjustments, cut back, change your nutrition, etc.

The next thing I'd suggest is checking out the various sticky posts in the exercise area of the forum (Weight Loss Through Exercise - Weight Loss Forum). There are some very good posts on exercise, both cardio/aerobic and on incorporating weight lifting into your exercise plans.

I'd also suggest starting a diary in the weight loss diary area (Weight Loss Diary - Weight Loss Forum) as well as reading and participating in other diaries. This is a good way to make updates to your progress and to get support from others. It helps to find the diaries of people who have successfully lost weight (or are losing weight) and reading through them as well. Following the diaries of those who have been successful is both inspiring and informative.

Finally, I'd say you should read as much as you can of the posts on the board, especially anything that's marked "sticky". There is a ton of good information around here and a lot of times questions that new folks have has already been answered very thoroughly - so do take the time to look around and read. :)

Hope that helps you to get started.

Thanks for the info. My gym membership starts monday, and what I had planned to do was walk for a couple hours a day, since I am currently unemployed I figure its a great time to focus as much time as i can into working out. I want to work up to walking 3-4 every other day on the tred mills between 3-4 mph. On the days im not on the tredmill i wanted to work a couple hours on the eliptical to keep it switched up for my body, and the gym has a cuircut training thing, so i planned on working my core every day, and my upper body every other day. Right now i can walk 5 miles or more without too much effort. I dont want to cuircut train on my legs at all tho because i want to work them with walking.

I know I wont be able to work up to doing all that right away, i figure i can start off going for as long as i can, to see how long i can walk without too much pain. then i'll add about 30 min a week. On the cuircut machines i want to do like 9 reps on a pretty comfortible weight, then add like 10-20 lbs and so 7 reps then add more weight and do 5 reps. After my work outs I have planned to stretch pretty well, and i have a Jacuzzi bath with jets I can soak in for about 30 min after I get home from the gym.

All of this is what i have planned anyways. i know plans dont work out as planned a lot of the time. But i will adjust to be able to reach my goal. You asked what I plan on doing after I lose the weight? I plan on continuing to live a healthy lifestyle. I dont remember the last time I ate anything fried, and thats saying something living in GA. For breakfast i usually make me an eggwhite omlet with mushrooms onions and bellpeppers, no cheese, a peice of whole wheat toast. Then anout 3 hours after that i usually eat a cup (i measure it out) of raisin bran, and just enough milk to make the cereal damp. My breakfast is usually about 400 calories, my cereal is about 200-250 calories. Then i shoot for a 400-500 calorie lunch, peferably a salad with grilled chicken, and then another 200-250 calory snack, and for dinner I cook me parmasean crusted tolapia, a cup of white rice and about 2 cups of steamed brocoli, finishing up my calories for the day at about 550-600 calories. I eat in 3 hour intervals, and im usually done eating about 4 hours befor i go to bed and drink over a gallon of water a day. I dont really eat fruit that much but i make an effor to eat veggies at every meal. and for my snacks while i go to the gym I was thinking about getting protine bars to increase my protine intake for my muscles.

Hey Josh! I'm Dom, glad you join this forum it really is a great place to get inspiration and motivation of all sorts.

Looks like you're going great so far, you should really make a diary to track your progress and thoughts.. your post is very interesting to read! Especially since I'm also 20yo guy and try to lose that unwanted weight ;)

Hope to talk with you some more!

Josh, I know you can do it. All you need to do is want it bad enough. I can tell by the specifics of your response that you want it really bad. The reason I asked what you were going to do after you have lost your weight is for you to be really specific about activities, times, dates... so that you get yourself on a schedule and plan. Good luck to you, I know you can do it.
