Hi everyone......just joined this board 'cuz I'm gonna need some support. I am currently 10 lbs overweight, a down-side to obtaining a much-needed, but very sedentary-job. That might not seem like much weight, but I am very small-framed and petite, so 10 lbs to me is like 30 for most. But what I really need support with is this.....I have quit smoking. After 15 years of smoking 1 to 1-1/2 pks per day, I am pretty much going cold-turkey. I smoked my last cigarette at 11 pm Mon July 28. To help with the DT's, I have taken a few hits off of a Black & Mild here and there, mostly at the times when I get the emotional craving more than the nicotine craving. I simply CANNOT gain any weight with this.....I have already sworn that if I gain more than 2 lbs I will begin smoking again until I am at my goal weight. However, i have been trying for a year to get that extra 10 lbs off before quitting smoking, and I have come close a few times, but my weight jumps around like a jackrabbit on speed! I got tired of using weight as an excuse. I want to quit smoking for a few reasons: 1. I notice in photgraphs of myself that I look older than my mom in the face. 2. heart disease and CHF run in my family. 3. I want to be around long enough to see my daughter off to college, walk her down the aisle, and hold my grandbabies. So, any advice anyone has as to how to be successful at quitting without gaining the weight.....MUCH appreciated! Y'all have a great day!
