Hi everyone. I'm new to the site. My name is Ann, I'm 20 years old, and I live in PA. A few weeks ago I decided to change my lifestyle to try and seriously lose weight. At the moment I am 5'2 and about 170 lbs, only seven lbs lighter than I've been at my heaviest. Over the past two years I gained 40 lbs, and now I want to lose that amount for good. Since I was 12 years old until a year ago I've struggled with my ed. My weight has yo-yo'd back and forth for 8 years, and this is the first time I've ever attempted to lose weight in a healthy way. I enjoy working out daily and eating healthy foods, so I decided to join the forum because I'd like to talk to other people and learn more about the healthy way to lose weight. I'm really tired of restricting and binging, and I've been doing well so far and I'd like to stay that way.

If anyone has any suggestions about healthy eating and exercising, please leave comments.

The two best things I can recommend to you is post a diary on here so you stay motivated. The second is keep track of all the food you eat. It's great you enjoy to work out. Keep it up

Welcome Sleepy! Sounds like you are ready for a permanent change. I'm sure you will find lots of motivation, information and inspiration on the boards.

As suggested, a diary is a great idea to track your progress, and possible faults, so you can look back on if you need to.

Are you following a specific eating and/or exercise plan?

A diet diary that is used to detail your daily habits (be it exercise or diet) is a great way to keep accountable. You can restrict calories in a way that is satiating and that will bring about long-term weight loss. You can do it, and if you have any questions, people will be more than happy to help.

Thanks for the support everyone... I made a diary for myself to keep track of my progress so I can see what I'm doing right and wrong. I kind of have a plan.. I try to make it to the gym every day. It really helps that there is a fitness center in my apartment complex and it's only a short walk from my building. There is also a gym on campus at my school and that's only a 5 minute drive from where I live. As for an eating plan.. hmmm... I do have some trouble with that, but I'm beginning to learn exactly what to eat and how much of it I need. I just have trouble feeling guilty when I eat, but I need to overcome that I guess. Thanks guys!
