Hi i'm Lyn and am a noob and well wanted to say hey to everyone :)
really hoping to find some new motivation and ideas been dieting for 8 weeks now roughly and lost 24lb with the odd pound going on then off, have come to a bit of a halt but still have 84lb to go to reach goal.

Ahh welcome.

Hit a plateau in your weight loss you mean?

What is your height and the daily calorie amount for your diet if you don't mind my asking?

Many people on here can help you breakthrough your weight loss halt ie plateau if you give this information.

my weight has plateau'd yea, i am 5'8 and am currently eating between 1300 and 1600 calories a day, i started at 272lbs and i am currently 252lbs but it seems to be fluctuating between 254 and 252 at the minute so the last 3 wks have been a battle to stay at the same weight let alone lose any,
i have decided to add some exercise into my daily diet plan and am now (well the last 2 days anyway) going on my cross trainer for 20 mins a day i know it should be more but i can only manage 20 mins.

Hey there and welcome to the forum. :D

Yah... 1300-1600 calories seems really low for your current weight. Also, if you're going to be working out, you'll need to add calories to fuel your body for these workouts. Read around the stickied threads to get a bit more info. Good luck.

As long as you really work those 20min on the CT, you'll be fine. I'm with Sheryl on increasing your cals. Your body's probably adjusted to the lower calories. I'd eat at your maintainance level for a week to zap your metabolism back into shape. Then start eating around 1700-1800 cals a day. Pounds should start coming off again. Trust me, I've been there and done it--so I know how frustrating it can be. :)

Thanks i never thought that i might be eating too little altho i am constantly hungry i thought that was standard when on a diet.
i've had my sister staying tha last 2 days so have fallen off the wagon so to speak and we had a takeaway last night so have to battle that off aswell.

thanks for your advice i'll find my way around the site and hopefully find some help :)

When I first joined up with the site, I didn't realize I was eating 500 calories less than I should have been at my "starting weight." It honestly would have made things so much easier being that I hate the feeling of "starving." Plain and simple: it sucks. I'm not sure what your stats are, but do figure out your maintanence calories, BMR, and whatnot. Also... to make things easy on you when it comes to logging in your food, sign up with either or Both sites are free and a lot of members here use it religiously. :) (Calorie counting is wayyyyy easier.) Good luck once again.. see you around the forum.
