Hey Everyone,

So i have just joined this site as im really looking for some help. I hope you guys can help me.
I finally got fed up of complaining about how i look....how i would love to loose a bit of weight, get the toned abs i have always dreamed of, get fab toned arms...etc,,,
So....i joined the gym and also started jogging. I go to the gym 3-4 times a week and jog around 2 miles twice a week. In the gym i do about 40mins cardio and 20 mins toning exercises. I have to say that i really quite enjoy my new regime and get a great nights sleep as a result!!
I also am eating quite well and have cut out most 'bad' foods from my diet.
However......Im kind of disappointed because i a have not lost one pound since i started......!!! I NEED UR HELP!!! PLEASE!
Can anyone suggest anything to help me along the way??? I would really appreciate all your help and suggestions!!!! Please help me achieve my goal!!! Thanks guys.....ps also attempting to do a mini Marathon this June!! My first one!!!!

Look forward to hearing from you all!!

he first thing I'd suggest is registering for a free account on FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal or Calorie Counter, Diet Tracking, Food Journal, Nutrition Facts at The Daily Plate and starting to log your food. This will let you see how many calories you're eating and how your nutrition levels are breaking down. Once you know that, you'll be able to see more clearly where you can make adjustments, cut back, change your nutrition, etc.

The next thing I'd suggest is checking out the various sticky posts in the exercise area of the forum (Weight Loss Through Exercise - Weight Loss Forum). There are some very good posts on exercise, both cardio/aerobic and on incorporating weight lifting into your exercise plans.

I'd also suggest starting a diary in the weight loss diary area (Weight Loss Diary - Weight Loss Forum) as well as reading and participating in other diaries. This is a good way to make updates to your progress and to get support from others. It helps to find the diaries of people who have successfully lost weight (or are losing weight) and reading through them as well. Following the diaries of those who have been successful is both inspiring and informative.

Finally, I'd say you should read as much as you can of the posts on the board, especially anything that's marked "sticky". There is a ton of good information around here and a lot of times questions that new folks have has already been answered very thoroughly - so do take the time to look around and read. :)

Hope that helps you to get started.

A little more info!

I agree with KaraCooks, there are many different methods of keeping track of your progress and what she states makes sense!

If you don't mind, tell me a little about yourself so I can get a better idea of what I'm working with.

Age?
Weight?
Height?
Frame Size?
Daily Calories?
How long have you been following this particular exercise routine for?

Hi

Thanks for your reply. So i am female, 29years old, 5ft 1, weigh around 121 pounds, small frame and im trying to follow weightwatchers plan at present. Have been doing this exercise regime for 1 month exactly.
Although i now im not overweight or anything i would really like to loose between 7-10 pounds but cant seem to loose even 1!!!

Also would really love to tone up stomach area and arms.

Thnaks for your reply :)

If you're not overweight, then you're going to have a hard time losing weight - which explains your problem.

What you probably want is to reshape your body to get that "lean" or "fit" look that a lot of people describe as "toned".

To do that when you're already a healthy weight takes a lot of commitment. it means restructuring your diet to include lots of lean meats and veggies, and it means lifting weights - not doing "girly toning" weight lifting (cause there's really no such thing) but really seriously lifting weights to build muscle and reshape your body.

Read the sticky post called "The Conceptual Side of Weight Lifting" to get started.

Thanks a million for your advice i might speak to one of the instructors in the gym and see about maybe changing my work out in the gym.....possibly making it harder and doing more of the weights, Thanks :)

Hey Ol2.

Just be careful about your "weight". If you are lifting weights at the gym, numbers can be deceiving. Muscle weighs more than fat, so you maybe LOSING fat, but gaining muscle weight.

This is why most trainers recommend using body fat calipers.

hi guys_please help

hi o12,
it sounds like you are on the right track. in my opinion the numbers on the scale don't matter. most likely muscle weight is replacing fat weight. since muscle weighs more than fat the results might not show on the scale but in the fit of your clothes, how you feel and how you look. keep up the good work. it sounds like you are determined to get yourself fit. good job!:iagree:

Thanks a million guys...a lot of people have said the same thing to me that possible i have gained muscle.....i might avoid the scales for a while and maybe see if i have lost inches instead?? Its just disheartening when your working so hard but you guys are making sense!! :)
Thanks again.
