Hi Everyone!

I was just looking through some sites online with very useful information about weight loss and suddenly just realised that one important component of my weight loss programme is to get support!

So, I bumped into this forum and decided to see if it'll help me in my quest to health and fitness.

I am a 33 yr old guy here in this part of the world. Recently I had my measurements done, my BMR calculated and etc and I was shocked speechless... At 5'8" I currently weigh 253 pounds. My metabolic age is 58yrs old! I was also surprised as I don't smoke nor drink, but my sedentary lifestyle with work mostly conducted in the office... and not having enough sleep are the things that probably had led me to this.

It isn't looking good for me if I don't do anything about it. So... on my 33rd birthday on the 23rd of April, I made a vow, for the good of my family and the people who loved me (myself included) I would do something about it.

My goal is to bring my weight down to 165pounds and improve my overall fitness and health...

In my previous efforts 2yrs ago.. I had manage to lose 20pounds through exercise and proper dieting, but the progress plateaued and I didn't keep up with it.

This time, I have different motivations to succeed. With a daughter and another little baby coming along soon in December... I have to also be doing it for them.

I am looking forward to this journey as I know that it's all going to be good...

Hey,

Although your sleep and sedentary life choices may appear to have caused your current situation, you have not mentioned anything about your eating. How did you determine that your "metabolic age" is 58 years old? I have never heard of such a concept. Can you tell me how you determined that?

I would suggest that you first determine all of the calories that you are eating every day. Account for everything that you eat or drink every day. The weight loss will occur primarily as a result of what you eat and don't eat.

You can do anything you put your heart to and you work hard to get it. Don't give up. I wish you success and welcome to the forum :)

Sorry to change this topic a bit. I am Japanese, born and raised in Japan and have weight issue. Why are Asians normally thin? Most of us do not seem to have weight problem.
