Hi Folks

Hi there,
As I'm new here, I thought I would just introduce myself.

My name is Jules, I live in Leicestershire in the UK. I'm 39  and I have 3 kids aged 17, 14 and 2.

I have just joined my local gym, and I am the most positive I have ever been about getting fitter and losing a bit of weight.

Those are my goals, and they are in that order.
I want to be fitter, I have put 28lb  on over the last 2 years as I have a very sedatory job (drive sit drive sit) and I do not like the impact this had had on the way I feel

I have tried diets - I don't stick to them (I forget), so the weight loss has been demoted to second place for the time being.

My main goal is to be fitter.

I have joined the local gym and as well as attending there twice a week I am going to aqua aerobics and a yoga class.

I am going to do this -
:D

Woot! hey guys!
Its great that we are getting more and more brits on this site. Maybe one day we'll take over and ban all the americans!

Thanks for the welcome guys!

So Leicestershire is trying to get fit hey? Must be something in the water!
I thought I'd be suffering today after a hard workout yesterday - but I'm ok - and amazed! I don't think I've ever exercised without suffering before!! Im learning a lot...

Love the Awen Derwyddon

Peace

Woah....watch it R.Lewis....that woodnt be a good thing that would actually prove we dont need to get "fit" ..cuz we already are.....(Texas is the fattest state, By alot)

Jules, congratulations on your committment. You'll find that, if you do a good mix of cardio (high and low) and strength training with weights, the weight will drop off you. Especially if you can avoid the great British breakfast.

I'm an American but lived in Beds for four years back in the 70's however managed to stay in shape by spending lots more time at the squash club and lots less at the chipper.

COBBA, nice to see you doing it.

:) Well mate the first steps taken, that's the most hardest one...
now it's just one foot after another......soon you'll be skipping &
we all know that leads to running.:)

Thanks for the welcomes!

I will definately be doing my best to avoid the Great British Breakfast - I'm not that keen anyway. Its the bread I'm having a hard time avoiding.

2 weeks into my new lifestyle now - and I'm doing fine!!!

Jules, the trick with bread is to not mix it with protein. I've know several people who have had great success losing weight by ensuring they don't mix starch with protein in their diet. For example, instead of having a sub roll with ham and cheese, make it a sub roll (or better, a baguette) with lettuce, tomato, cukes and olive oil. And tru to stick to nothing but fruit and fruit juice till lunch.
