Hi everyone!

I've recently become pretty near in love with working out... I love the feeling it gives me!

I'm trying to lose weight, over all I'd like to lose around 80-100 pounds. Gah, so much! I hope I can do this.

I'm getting married in May and would love to lose around 20 to 30 pounds by then, anyone think that's possible?

My biggest issue with losing weight is what I eat, I eat way to many carbs. I've started tracking my calories and have been doing pretty good at staying under my limit. But I need to eat better.

I'm exciting to meeting everyone! : )

Welcome

Of course you can lose according to your goal.

You say you eat too many carbs? do you mean highly refined carb foods such as well cakes and sugary foods.

There is a place for pasta and rice and bread. These foods provide essential energy. Your body likes carbohydrates best fgor energy, especially your brain. However your body does not need low nutrition carbs such as refined foods. Keep your carbs wholegrain and with low gi for best results.

I don't eat meat so grains and cereals and such are essential for me to bulk up and provide energy. its better to rely on these foods for energy than just on meat and other protein foods. We need protein but not in as much quantity as we need carbs.

the reputation that carbs has is unfortunate. If you can make most of your foods low calorie foods then you will lose weight and not go hungry.

For carbs on a normal day I eat either multi grain cherrio's or 7 grain bread with two egg whites for breakfast. Somedays, like today when I woke up starving I eat my cherrio's and waiting awhile and I was still hungry so I had a slice of bread with peanut butter.

Then for lunch I'll eat an orange, grapes, cucumbers, carrots, and chicken. If I'm still hungry I'll have some crackers (I think this is what kills me)

Then dinner I normally have pasta, rice or a potato, with meat and veggies.

I've read that I shouldn't eat carbs at night. So maybe stoping that will help me out.

Another huge fault I have is soda. Ugh. I don't even keep it in the house but sometimes I'll just crave it so bad or get headaches from not having it.

Do you have any suggestions for me?

Also for my work out I'm doing 35 mins on the elliptical and then 5 to 10 mins on the treadmill running/walking. I'm having really bad pain in my calf on the side of it that no one seems to now what it is and they all just tell me to lose weight and it will go away. But that isn't help much, though I'm only down about 6 pounds right now.

Hey Kusrtin,

I'm glad that you are doing something about your weight. And Congrats on your wedding!

So I see your main problem is soda correct?

I suggest you BUY SODA, BUT!, don't drink more than about a quarter a cup a day.

You see the best way to remove soda is to drink smaller and smaller portions instead of going cold turkey.

So heres what you do,

Try to keep your mind busy when you start craving soda. When it comes to the point that you must have it, then get a cup and fill just enough to take a small gulp. THEN you back that up with a nutrient dense food like an apple or cucumbers or so. This way not only did you get the craving out of the way but you also backed the refined with nutrient dense.

I'm always on this site so if you need some more help please PM me.

heya, im new here too. good luck with your goal. thats great about working out ! could you pass some motivation my way plz?!!! lol hope reducing the diet soda goes well that must be really really tough to do

Hey Tink,

Well the best way to get motivated is to look at where you are at and ask yourself if you are happy with your image.

Are you?

Do you think you will accomplish what you want in your current health?

If you aren't, then what are you going to do about it?

Are you going to do what it takes to lose weight or are you going to make up excuses and do what's convenient?

Lets not forget that the man on top of the mountain did not fall there. You have to put your part as well.
