Hi Everyone!
I've been lurking around this forum for the past week or so after coming across it looking for motivating sites online and just decided to post and become a bit more active here since it seems like a great community.
A little back story of me is I've always been pretty heavy and have just recently decided to do something about it and start a healthier lifestyle. I started noticing my weight around age 9 and was always only just a bit heavier/overweight throughout school. But since being in my mid-late 20s I noticed I haven't been feeling as good as I could and have been putting on weight a bit faster than usual. I have some stomach issues so I'm hoping to combination of eating better foods and getting more exercise will also help with that
I started my new lifestyle on January 4th and so far things are going great. I spent my first week or so just cutting out things like extra sugar & bad fats, soda, fruit juices and trying to base my meals around lean proteins, whole grains (switching from white bread), lots and lots of veggies, fruits and healthy fats.
Then about two weeks after that I started regularly exercising and now I do about an hour 5 times a week on an elliptical with strength training exercises and more walking on my lunch breaks at work (I'm also running around and on my feet a lot at work).
I now count calories and try and keep it around 1200-1300 during the week and on the weekend its often around 1500.
I started around 211lbs (I didn't weight myself at the beginning) and a month later I'm at 200.6lbs. I'm 5'3". I'd like to get down to about 160lbs right now and then continue and see where it takes me just having a healthier lifestyle. I think at first the weight dropped off quickly because of cutting out all the junk and now I'm looking at more 1.5-2lbs a week which I'm definitely happy with.
Sorry for the big essay - and thanks to anyone who read it
Hope to get to know some of you, you all seem like a great bunch
