Hi I am new here. I really do not have anyone to vent too about my dieting issues except for my husband, but I don't think he understands how importnat it is to me to lose weight. I started my diet this month and so far I have lost 14 pounds but I am feeling frustrated because right now my weight loss has came to a standstill and I am doing everything I should be doing:( I started off at a whopping 282 and now I am down to 268. My goal weight is 150. :cuss:

hang in there girl it takes time!!! TRUST ME... and i am certainly not a patient person hehehe

and i hear ya about hubby not understanding... my bf... he is naturally a string bean... so he can eat chips and cheez whiz all day and not gain a pound hehe.

I have a tendency to overeat but I am really proud of my progress. It has been difficult though. Right now I have been eating a healthy bowl of oatmeal a day for breakfast. For lunch a salad with either chicken breast or turkey breast or tuna with italian dressing fat free of course and limited my starches to 2 pieces of light wheat bread a day. And pretty much the same with dinner. I will eat an apple a day and I do exercise for at least 20 minutes a day. I am drinking over 64 ounces a water a day. I do not drink any tea or soda any more. I know that I will reach my goal with hard work, but my thing is keeping it off once I do lose it lol.....

Hi Brandy. Welcome. :)

It almost sounds to me like you're not eating ENOUGH. Eating too little is as bad for losing weight as eating too much. If you drop your calories too drastically, then your body may lose a rush of weight at first, but then your metabolism will slow to compensate for the loss and your weight loss can stall ... sometimes even reverse for a bit.

I think that's also why you might find this has been difficult - because you're depriving yourself too much. You shouldn't have to be hungry or eat tiny little amounts to lose weight.

I also don't see a good balance in what you're eating - there are no healthy fats and healthy fats are essential to being able to absorb nutrition. Fat is not the enemy - it's an important part of your daily diet.

At your current weight, you could lose at a very nice, steady, healthy rate by eating 2200-2500 calories a day. Obviously as you drop weight, you'll want to reduce that, but probably not until you get to around 200 lbs.

Don't be afraid to eat ... and to eat healthy carbs and fats. Learning to eat properly now will also help you when you've reached your goal and you're ready to keep the weight off. That way you don't have to change your whole lifestyle again to go from "dieting" to "maintenance". It's just all part of the whole. :)
