Hi everyone!

I'm fairly new to the board here and just wanted to drop in and say Hi to everyone. I'm looking forward to getting to know people around here cause I defintely know that I will need the moral support.
 
My overall goal is to lose enough weight to be able to join either the Army or Navy next year. The weight limit that they accept is around 150 pounds for my height. Which when I started was about 143 lbs to lose but I have already lost 16 pounds in the last three weeks just by eating healthy and drinking lots of water and excercising. Beyond my goal of joining the military my 2nd goal is to lose enough weight so that I can wear a bikini and look good in it. Also to boost my cofidence, I am extremely shy and have trouble meeting men because of it and I am at the point that I'm ready to have a family and my lack of self confidence is impeding that.

Congrats on the 16 lbs lost already! That is really awesome. The best thing to do is take baby steps towards your fitness routine. Start adding weight training soon. You don't have to worry about bulking up, your hormones won't allow it. It will tone your body and help you lose that weight. Don't go crazy at once, though. Take baby steps. We'll be here to help out every step of the way.
 
Right now my next goal is to drop below 260. It took me three weeks to reach my first goal which was the 16 lbs. I've started doing some weight training and tonight I am going to start taking a Zumba class, which I'm really excited about. I'm just really hoping I can keep up with the class.

What is a Zumba class? Do you mind explaining it? I might be interested in finding something here if nit's offered.

the military is a great goal girl^^
my daddy served for 21 years and we got to travel sooo much.
its a great experience... and showing your patriotism is great as well.

how tall are you may i ask??? im suddenly curious about the military's
requirements for me. lol... im tooo much of a girl... basic training scares me tooo much. D:

I am also interested in this Zumba phenoemenon. Maybe it's some sort of exercise that involves a Roomba. You know, those vacuuming robots?
 
Zumba is a dance class that they are teaching at the YMCA here. It is a mixture of all kinds of different Latin and Carribbean dances like salsa, merengue(sp?), regae, some sort of cuban dance. It sounded like it would be fun to me since I am a fan of dance.

I am only five two so I'm extremely short that's why I have the weight goal that I do for the military.

Come on now, we all know that hypnosis is fake... just like the Easter Bunny and Patrick Duffy.

Your aspirations are great and from personal experience, dancing can be one of the best workouts there is. Especially Salsa. Just remember Drink Water! (You'll understand in Army Bootcamp, vet here). The BMI scale is mean to shorter people and forgiving to tall people so it's even more work for you, lucky in the military, if you fail the BMI, you get taped but it's a headache going through that all the time. I'm currently 239.5, with 30% body fat. I am a 27 year old guy. how long before I get my perfect bikini bod?
