Hi everyone!

I'm 16 years old and have type 1 diabetes, I'm 6'3 and weigh 250 pounds.

For the longest time I've wanted to lose a substantial amount of weight (40 maybe 50 pounds) but always gave up within days or weeks of starting a regime (usually lifting/cardio/diet). Recently however I've been doing cardio every night on an elliptical machine for 30 minutes and walking a couple of miles when I have the time, I think in the past I had my plan for losing weight too well drawn out, thus being too difficult to follow. This time I'm taking it a lot slower. So, I've come here to maybe gain motivation and learn more about diet, I have trouble finding information online (since I also have diabetes).

Anyways, heres to reaching goals! :cheers2:

welcome to the site...

Having a plan that's too difficult to follow is a recipe for failure... start by making one change at a time and being consistent with your behavior and you will get to where you want to be.

Is your diabetes being treated by a doctor? With medication or with diet and exercise? Have you been given a list of food do's and don'ts?

For the past one and a half years I've been taking insulin in the morning and at night, and I maintain normal blood sugar levels, for the most part.

I base my diet strictly on carbohydrates, (30 in the morning, 75 at lunch, etc etc), so basically I can eat anything (not candy or soda) as long as the right amount of carbs are there.
