Hi Everyone!

I'm a 49 yr old mother to 4 children living in a suburb north of St Paul, Minnesota. I have kidney disease and am preparing for a kidney transplant within the next year. My doctor has requested that I try to lose 30 lbs. before surgery. That is going to be quite a challenge for me because I've tried to lose the weight before, but I've managed to stay at 200 lbs. for the last 5 yrs. and my body is very happy at that weight.

I did get down to 190 two years ago, but only through daily strenuous exercise, which I can't do anymore, due to a hip condition I also have. My stiff hips limit my exercise routine quite a bit. I would love to ride a bike, but I can't anymore. All I can do now is work up a sweat marching around my living room while listening to my favorite upbeat music.

I am glad I found this board. It will be a great motivator in my life and everyone can help to hold me accountable to see that I stay on the right track and to inspire me to reach my goal.

Hi Darla,

Welcome to WLF. Everyone here is very supportive and they offer great advice.

hey Spice... glad to have you here...

you should check out Wishes' diary -she's losing weight to be a kidney donor to her brother -her success has been phenomenal...

Do start a diary, it's a great place to get support and to record your successes and challenges, and it's a little fun to :)

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I just started my diary. I weigh 201 today. I'm hoping to be back down to 200 by tomorrow. I just took a shower and I don't like to exercise on my shower days so I'll just eat carefully today and do my marching routine in my livingroom tomorrow morning. I do work up a sweat! :rotflmao:
