Hi everyone

Hi all

I am from Auckland, NZ and have really enjoyed looking at the forum. I have 3 kids and as much as I would like to say that the weight I have to lose now is due to them, that would be a cop out on my part. I have at least 12kg (26lbs) to lose to feel happy in myself. Motivation and temptation are my 2 worst enemies at the moment so am looking forward to getting some good tips from everyone here.

Motivation

Morning,

Welcome! I was in the same boat as you 10+ months ago - 40+ pounds overweight, 4 kids, etc. One of the biggest motivations I had was realizing what while it's great to do things for myself, doing them for my kids was equally (if not more so) important. That added an extra mental boost that really helped whenever I was tempted to slack off.

Best of success to you,

Barbara

Welcome to the forum! :)

Motivation comes from within, IMO. You can have 100 people rooting for you here... but if you can't find that motivation from within, you won't succeed.

You say temptation gets the better of you too. How do you normally go about dieting? Maybe you set to many parameters for yourself.

Hi again

thanks for the welcome. Yes Steve i think you are right with that. I tend to put quite high expectations on everything and then when I get annoyed or frustrated with what I think are lack of results I give up. So I can have really good weeks, even managed a couple of months but again I lose the drive. And if I have a bad day with the kids or anything else I tend to feel like a glass of wine which then leads to food. Want to change all that though. Need to get onto this while I only have a small amount to get rid of

Management of expectations is one of the most critical components of a 'plan.'
