Just wanted to introduce myself, as I've just signed up on the boards here. I'm 23, 5' 6", and currently weigh 191 lbs. My target weight is 140 lbs, so I've got a ways to go.

Basically, what made me look for a site like this was a recent trip to the doctor. It's not very nice at 23 to be told that you have borderline high cholesterol. As well, I've come to the point in my life where I've realized that I need to make some changes in order to stay healthy. Plus, I've never been slim, and I really want to be able to wear the clothes that I like. The doctor suggested Weight Watchers, but I'm cheap, and have probably a little too much pride to head there yet, so I thought I would find a forum that would give the same kind of support.

Well, enough about me for now! I can't wait to get started on this.

Whats your weight loss plan? the best of luck to you and just remember a positive attitude is very important in this journey!!
 
Thanks for the welcome! My plan so far is eat better food, eat smaller portions, and exercise at least 20 mins every day. Depending on how things go, I'll adjust as necessary since I've never done this before and I'm not sure how extreme my changes will have to be to get the results I want.

That target weight is perfectly achievable, you will see people on here losing much much more than that. Having a little pride shouldn't be a problem, indeed its essential. Good luck on your journey.
