Hi all,
Just wanted to take a minute and introduce myself. I have struggled with weight gain my entire adulthood. Developed hypothyroidism about 5 yrs ago and have gained around 100 lbs since that time. I have gained and lost the same twenty pounds at least 3 times this year. I picked up a copy of shape magazine today and decided no more excuses. I have currently been on a diet for 3 weeks, last week I fell off the wagon. This is usually followed by the mentality of--well I blew that--eat what you want. But not this time! I am getting right back on that wagon!! I am so glad I stumbled onto this site today. Everyone is so encouraging I look forward to chatting with all of you in our battle of the bulge! Okay enough about me, I will shut-up now.

Freaksgurl:rolleyes:

welcome to the site and to the mentality that one slip up doesn't blow all the work you've done.... take it one day at time, one meal at a time and you will get to where you want to be

You don't have to shut up now silly! At least you were able to lose 20 lbs. I just continue to keep growing and growing and growing! With the great support on this site . . . we can definitely do it. Anyways, we're doing this for our own benefit. We are going to feel and look better, and I'm looking forward to it!

Welcome to the Forums! I too am of the mindset that weightloss is really about whats in your head. I can understand your frustration about the up n down's this year, but glad to see you motivated! I would recommend you dont view "it" as a diet (something you are on or off), but rather a more healthy way of eating, of living. That way its not a huge "screw up" if you dont follow your plan to a "T". Instead, you'll be making positive changes over time to improve your life in general.

I hope you find this site helpful, as I have (altho I'm still quite the "newb" myself). GOOD LUCk!

Thanks for all the support. I am really looking forward to getting to know everyone better and encouraging each other.

TGIF!!!

Plus I lost 1lb this week WOOHOO.

I maybe out of touch this weekend, hope everybody has a great one. I am hoping to work in 30 mins of walking tonight....maybe even talk the hubby into it!

Hello and welcome! Learning to get back into it straight away rather than falling to the temptation of eating everything in sight is an excellent step! Every time you defeat that particular trap, it gets a bit easier to do.

:DGood morning everyone!

Overall I did okay over the weekend. They are definitely my weakpoint. Too much spare time to eat!!

I didn't get my Friday night walk in as I planned but I did do some pretty heavy housework so maybe I burned a few calories!:jump:

Started Satruday morning bright and early and walked one mile--This sounds so pathetic after reading the many miles put in by others, but let me tell ya for this chick it's an accomplishment.

I did eat more that I should have, but again did some more heavy housework so maybe that counteracted the effects. Ended the night watching the UF game with friends.......Way to go Gators.

Yesterday did fairly well, again got up walked my mile:D Ate pretty well through the day, but ended up eating fast food for dinner.

I weighed this morning and lost another pound and a half---that's totally motivating! So now I am working on my first jug of water for the day and looking forward to a new week. We will be on vacation next week:jump:, so I will be breathing that mountain air and hiking through the mountains:rotflmao:

Have a great day,

Have you considered starting a journal/dairy to post in the diaries thread? I was shy at first, but bit the bullett as I have found everyone who visits these forums to be so supportive and now I actually look forward to posting in it. It's great to read back on it to get insight into the good things I have done and the "red flags" that I should avoid.

Gratz on the loss! Every pound counts!
