ASince I turned 40 it has been a constant battle with my weight...I have gained 30 lbs since turning 40. I diet and exercise and my weight up and down by 5 to 10 lbs. It is a constant battle. I recently saw my doctor and the only explanation other than my age was that I have low vit D levels. I am now taking vit D daily (3000iu's) and fingers are crossed that it helps. He also told me that vit D deficiency causes fatigue and I have been exhausted for the past couple of yrs. Has anyone taken vit D and seen any difference in weight or energy?

AI have no advice to offer on the Vit D thing, but I wanted to say welcome to the forum. You should consider starting a diary in the diary section, if you haven't already. They are great for motivation and support. Good luck!

Hello and welcome to the forum....this place is really awesome!

Sorry for the late reply to your post....2 months go by as fast as two weeks it seems.

I am a male, so things might be different in terms of Vit D. That is my disclaimer....but here are my comments...

Much focus has been placed on Vit D over the last 2 years. The 3000 IU of Vit D per day is a great start. When you ask questions about Vit D, you will get different answers, for sure. Doctors will tell you one thing, online forums another....etc. But, the general recommendation is the 3000 IU per day. Vitamin D is produced in the body by sunlight, but, it is hard to get adequate sunlight to produce enough Vit D. Almost everyone can use a supplementation for Vit D. I get seasonal depression. Just a touch of depression because of all the gray days in the winter months. I live in the North East USA. In the winter months I take D3 pills to boost my mood and it helps. But, I never experience the fatigue.

I hope that helps....
