Just wanted to say hello!

I have decided to join the forum in hopes of educating myself and finding some support for weight loss.

I am 21 years old, and if anyone was to look at me they would most likely laugh that I am struggling with Weight loss.

I am not overly obeise, I am 6'3, and about 210 pounds.

My problem is I find almost all of my fat is deposited in my stomach area, and its starting to make me really feel negative about my body image.

I have started eating better, and trying to workout more often, but it just seems like there are so many contradictory pieces of advice out there, i.e. whether or not an Elliptical machine is a good method of fat burning, that I feel completely overwhelmed at times...

I don't know how many calories someone my size should be intaking each day, or what a good goal is for exercising each week.

I am hoping my time on the site will give me the information I require!

Thanks everyone!

Hey, I am glad you are here. You did not say it, but I am assuming you are man. If so, to eat only what a person of your age (and gender) would need for energy balance (meaning no gain or loss of weight) is about 2,400 calories (if sedentary), 2,600-2,800 calories (if moderately active) and 3,000 calories if active. If you want to lose weight you should eat calories less than those numbers.

Let me know if I have made a gross error in guessing your gender.
